The Palm Beach County School District operates a total of more than 210 campuses throughout the county. The schools within the village of Royal Palm Beach are three highly rated elementary campuses, plus Crestwood Community Middle School, Western Academy Charter School and Royal Palm Beach High School.

Prospective college students have a few options within driving distance. Palm Beach Atlantic University, about 10 miles east of the village, provides Christian-oriented, liberal arts programs to four-year students. Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth is about 12 miles east of Royal Palm Beach. Thirty miles south is the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University.

Royal Palm Beach’s extensive community park system is supplemented by two major recreational areas: Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and Preserve and Royal Palm Beach Pines Nature Area. The marsh flats and Northern Everglades of Loxahatchee are used for hiking, canoeing and other forms of exploration. Royal Palm Beach Pines Nature Area covers 774 acres of wet prairie lands and pine flatwoods. Visitors can delve into the diverse habitat via a nature trail and observation platform, hiking trails or equestrian trails.

Royal Palm Beach also offers a nice range of artistic and cultural activities. The Crestwood Performing Arts League, for example, has been holding seasonal concerts at Royal Palm Beach High School for more than 15 years. Other special activity venues are Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center and the HL Johnson School Theatre. The cultural center hosts monthly performances and other special events, while dinner theatre productions by Royal Palms Performing Arts Theatre are held at HL Johnson School.

One of the village’s better known attractions is the South Florida Fair and Entertainment Center. The annual South Florida fair is a 17-day celebration that incorporates food, live entertainment, carnival rides and midway games. Throughout the remainder of the year, the entertainment center hosts a variety of other special festivals and events.

The climate of Royal Palm Beach is moist, but sunny and mild. Annual rainfall averages about 60 inches, with the wettest months being June, August and September. Average temperatures range from the mid-60s in January to the mid-80s in August. Temperature variation is low, as it rarely gets warmer than about 90 degrees or cooler than 55. The village’s year-round sunshine rate is about 70%.
